Why I Chose the Name The Tackle List

When people hear “bucket list,” they usually think of the big-ticket, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Travel to Paris. Go skydiving. Run a marathon. The bucket list is about what you want to check off before you kick the bucket.

And while those kinds of dreams are amazing, I realized that what I needed — and what I wanted to build for others — was something different.

From Bucket List to Tackle List

The Tackle List isn’t about someday. It’s about today.

Instead of giant, singular experiences you hope to get to before the end, the Tackle List is about breaking those goals and big ideas into small, doable steps — the kind you can weave into your daily life.

It’s not just about skydiving once. It’s about building the strong, intentional, meaningful days that add up to a life you actually want to live.

A Nod to the Tackle Box

The name is also a little nod to a tackle box. If you’ve ever gone fishing (or even just seen one), you know it’s a small box packed with all the essential tools and trinkets you need to be prepared.

Your Tackle List works the same way. Everyone’s “box” looks different, filled with unique goals, priorities, and preferences. But a good tackle box — and a good tackle list — has three things in common:

  • Preparation — you stock it intentionally.

  • Tools — you keep what works for you, and leave the rest.

  • Reflection — you check it, adapt it, and use it as you grow.

That’s what The Tackle List is meant to be: not just another planner, but a kit of tools that helps you prepare, stay equipped, and reflect as you move intentionally through life, one step at a time.

Building a Life You Want to Live

So while the bucket list is about what you want to do before you die, the tackle list is about how you want to live.

It’s the big goals, yes — but it’s also the small moments. It’s the doodle you make in the corner of your list, the walk you take with your kids, the creative project you carve out time for, the meals that feed your family.

Because life isn’t just about checking off one big thing before the end. It’s about tackling the right things, day by day, until you look back and realize you built the life you wanted — one list at a time.
